Oasis Academy Henderson Avenue is proud to be working in partnership with North Lincolnshire SCITT Partnership providing placements for trainees across the primary age range. We have an excellent training record: we have offered placements to trainee teachers since 2011. All our trainees have successfully completed their placements, because of the excellent support provided by our team of School Based Mentors, and all have secured teaching posts, many here at the academy, where three currently hold leadership positions and one has progressed on to senior school leadership.

Intensive bespoke support for trainee teachers

North Lincolnshire SCITT Partnership has a proven and successful track record in school-based teacher training. The key characteristic of this route is that it is an apprenticeship model of training. Rather than being based at a university or college and experiencing a number of teaching practice placements, you are, based in a host school and benefit from partnership training opportunities in our two contrasting and successful academies – utilising the expertise of pedagogical experts – Lead Practitioners and Specialist Leaders in Education (SLEs). Our trainees meet regularly with their peers to train, network and support each other.

The partnership has a core team of central trainers which has built up a high level of expertise from their extensive experience working in the field of teacher training. All trainee teachers have the opportunity to achieve a PGCE qualification as an embedded part of the programme. The partnership’s training base is at North Lindsey College in Scunthorpe – a fully equipped and well-resourced professional development centre.

By the end of your training year you will demonstrate highly developed pedagogical skills based on impactful practical experiences in our two contrasting and complementary academies.

People speak very highly of their initial teacher training with the partnership. 75% of all of those trained have rated their training as Very Good (the highest rating possible) over the past five years - with 100% rating their training as Good or better.
