Exceptional Education at the Heart of the Community

Year 6

This is the year of Conflict:

As skilled historians, children will draw upon their knowledge of some of the major conflicts the world has ever seen in British history and Ancient Civilisation. Children will begin by comparing key battles and wars throughout history and ask questions to learn more about the tragic events. Over the year, they will research significant events, in depth, from all over the world and apply their knowledge to deeply explore some of the main changes that conflict has caused throughout the years.

This is the year of Beliefs:

As expert historians, children will continue to explore some of the major religions that they have learnt so far. Children will listen to stories about worship and ask questions to find out more about different religious beliefs. Children will question and seek out some of the incredible similarities and differences of key beliefs and places of worship around the world. Throughout the year, children will identify how different beliefs have changed over a significant period of time.

This is the year of Earthquakes, Zones and Volcanos:

As experienced geographers, children will investigate interesting patterns of epic earthquakes, monstrous mountains and vicious volcanoes. They will explore the different climate zones and continue to understand the key aspects of physical and human geography, by refining their fieldwork techniques. Children will identify the precious life and economic resources known to man. They will be keen to explore all the natural disasters from all around our world including North and South America. Children will ask questions, collect and analyse information about their location to make conclusions. They will also take inspiration from scientists to further their knowledge of natural disasters.
